Samuel Koch in serious condition/ artificial coma/ can not feel his legs

After the serious accident during German’s TV show ‘Wetten Dass’ yesterday, show candidate Samuel Koch is still in serious but not life threatening condition. That is what medical staff of the Duesseldorf hospital just told media during a press conference.

After a two hour surgery, which was necessary to stable his neck bones, doctors put him into an artificial coma. He can not yet speak and does not have any feelings in his legs, doctors said. But this might change later on they added.

Koch hurt himself seriously, when he hit the ground with his face during a live prime time TV show Saturday night. The show was aborted. Planned show acts included Take That with Robbie Williams, Cher, Justin Bieber and Cameron Diaz (talk guest).

The accident caused a huge discussion in Germany about the increase of dangerous show acts during TV shows, which might be caused by the strong competition. Some magazines in Germany reported, that the stunt already went wrong several times during the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday and that the contestant himself said, that he would not be feeling confident.
